This is a place for me to think out loud. While I crystalize ideas and work to apply my learning, I'm hoping the site will help future collaborators understand who I am, what I like to work on, and what I believe in. I'm posting most of this in my blog.
I was the CEO of M5 Networks, a pioneering cloud-based communications company. In 2012, after a decade, we sold it to ShoreTel (SHOR). M5 capitalized on our breakthroughs in technology and workplace culture to deliver an extraordinary experience for business customers. My current plan is to start another company to continue innovating in technology, culture and customer experience. I like being a CEO. Plus, I'd like to transform another industry and to help raise the bar for practitioners of the art of business. In the summer of 2014, Julie, Audrey, Hazel and I moved to Barcelona for a family learning adventure. We've all been learning Spanish and exploring Europe. Although I describe this time as a sabbatical, I'm busy. I'm researching ideas for my next company alongside some amazing peers as a 2014 Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute. My work there is to develop a scalable learning business to help narrow the skills gap: why is so hard both for companies to hire talented staff and for young people to find good jobs? I'm also helping a number of profit and nonprofit groups, some of which I describe under organizations. We plan to return to our home in Brooklyn in the summer of 2016. |
